How to Build a Business Without Losing Your Friends

Hey, welcome to tonight's episode. My name is Brandy Shaver and what we are talking about today is 'how to build your business without losing your friends'.

Now, many of you probably have, if you've been in network marketing for very long, we're told to reach out to your warm market, which makes total sense, but the way maybe that you were taught to reach out to your warm market and share your business, maybe didn't go over so well.

So let me know if you have ever experienced this.........

1. Using Your 'Friends'

Actually, there were some friends that I called that I went to high school with and it had been 15, maybe 16 years since I talked to them and I asked for their number inside of messenger and then called them right up and pitched my business. 

Definitely not the way to gain friends because your friends don't want to be used by someone that just wants to build their business. And so I'm totally guilty!!

So if that rings a nerve with you, let me know, because I have to laugh about it now, or I would cry, right. I lost a lot of friends doing it that way.

So how do you build a business without losing friends?

So, there are only two ways to do this, to build your network marketing team and to get customers.

2. Your Warm Market

One is to go to your current warm market. Those are the people that know, like and trust you already. The other way is to build a whole new warm market.

Now with social media, whether you know it or not, you have already started or may have started building out your new warm market.

And that's on your social media platforms where you have people that friend you, maybe you're in a couple of groups, that kind of thing. And so learning how to build your business without losing friends is really, really cool.

So first off, you've got to find the people that you want to work with. And that's what we're going to talk about today is where do I find more people to talk to?

3. Where to FIND People?

Because this is the number one thing that I hear from network marketers, business people, entrepreneurs, is they're like, "I don't know where to find them".

My upline used to say, people are like sand and they're everywhere.

And I never got it! I was like, it doesn't make any sense. You want me to go talk to a complete stranger and like pitch my business. It always felt so very weird.

And that's what I was doing. But if you think about it, people ARE like sand and they ARE everywhere.

If you look on social media, there are people everywhere. You can find people that, you know, love pugs. You can find people that love spiders. You can find people that love health and wellness. You can find people that love CBD. You can find people that love hemp. Right?

You can find people, they're everywhere.

It's just a matter of being a human being and learning how to get them into your world.

4. Grow and ENGAGE

So I'm going to share one piece of this with you. So you've got to learn how to grow your following.

The next piece is you've got to engage with that following.

That means you giving love to other people, this isn't just a one-way street on social media. If you're not getting the eyes and the hands up, and "I want more on what you're talking about", you are not giving enough love on social media. 

And what I mean by that is going into other people's profiles and commenting, liking, sharing, and I hope you have chosen those people that you may want to work with, or maybe they're a good candidate for being a customer.

So the last piece of that is you have to ask the question, listen! I love it when somebody comes into my world and they say, "Hey, I want to enroll in your team. Can we have a conversation?"

But that doesn't happen as often as it needs to, to grow a large team. You are going to want to add active prospecting as well as passive prospecting on social media.

And that doesn't mean sending spammy messages to strangers.

That means you getting very clear on what to do when, so that you can have these people reach out to you!!
